About Us
History
Our story started with concerned sons and daughters of Ilaje in London.
Welcome to the Ilaje Community Welfare Association in United Kingdom and Ireland (ILAJECWA), this is a non profit organization that is dedicated essentially to the unity, progress and welfare of members and people of Ilajeland. The association was founded and registered as a charitable organisation in 1993 by concerned sons and daughters of Ilaje in UK and Ireland to organize, support one another, engage in community events, to link up with other organizations in the area, to share our rich cultural heritage.
Ilaje Community Welfare Association has embarked on a lot of activities geared towards the fulfilment of its Mission Statement which is dedicated to community service, youth leadership development, educational assistance, and other charitable activities. For instance money was donated during the Ilaje/Ijaw war, money and clothes were also donated to the Ilaje war refugees in Epe Lagos State. Exercise books donated to all primary and secondary school pupils throughout Ilajeland. Various youth development projects in the United Kingdom. Numerious support towards the Ilaje Indigenes in need in the United Kingdom. Every December, the association celebrates with friends and families by hosting a social gathering or going out for dinner.
Our Mission
Our mission is to secure, sustain, consolidate and foster unity and values amongst our people and other ethnic minorities. We are also dedicated to community service, youth leadership development, AIDS awareness, educational assistance, the fight against drug use & weapons use, and other charitable activities.
